The Murmur of the Bees Exhibition

Where: National Museum of Ireland, Castlebar, County Mayo
Celebrate the fascinating world of Irish bees at this captivating exhibition. Discover the 100 species native to Ireland, learn about their crucial role in the ecosystem, and even find out why they have their own patron saint. The exhibition features events for all ages, including a beekeeping demonstration in August and a craft workshop in September where you can build a traditional straw bee skep.
Galway Summer Sessions

Galway Pride Festival / Bród an Gaillimhe

Dive into a week of celebration at Galway Pride Festival, where you can enjoy everything from vibrant raves and dance parties to inspiring art groups, short film screenings, and insightful talks. The festivities reach their peak with the colourful Pride Parade on Saturday, 17th August, starting at 12.30pm from Galway City Hall.
Féile Ceol na Locha
When: 12th to 16th August 2024
Where: Tourmakeady, County Mayo
Embrace the rich tradition of Irish music at Féile Ceol na Locha, a summer school and festival set in the heart of the Irish-speaking village of Tourmakeady. By day, take part in classes for instruments like the harp, fiddle, bodhrán and concertina. By night, join in the lively traditional music sessions at local pubs.
National Heritage Week

The 99th Connemara Pony Festival

Witness the world’s largest showcase of Connemara ponies at the 99th Connemara Pony Festival. Alongside the spectacular equine displays, families can also be entertained by a children’s area, arts and crafts, local market stalls, Irish dancing, and a dog show.
Cong-Galway Boat Race

Where: Cong, County Mayo
Experience the thrill of the 141st Cong-Galway sailing race, the oldest and longest of its kind throughout all of Europe. Starting at Lisloughrey Pier in Cong, County Mayo, this historic race spans 61.5 nautical miles, taking sailors from Ashford Castle to Galway and back.
Culture Night

Join Ireland’s annual celebration of arts and culture on Culture Night, with hundreds of free events across Galway and Mayo. Although the full schedule is yet to be announced, expect art exhibitions, theatre performances, live music, talks, craft demonstrations and more.
